The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary has a variety of boating courses helpful to the new or seasoned pilot as does the U.S. Power Squadron. Members of both of these organizations have boats at our marina.

You will also find plenty of useful information regarding boating courses, boating tips and boating safety at BoatSafe.com, Boat Ed.com, Boat U.S. Foundation.org, BoaterExam.com. Colgate Schools offers power cruise courses that cover safety, self-confidence in docking and anchoring, basic navigation, engine maintenance and more.

To make reservations at Alexandria City Dock call the dockmaster at 703/838-4265. You can also raise him on VHF Channel 16.

Occoquan Regional Park—This  spacious park is scenically located on the Occoquan River diagonally  across from the Town of Occoquan. The park offers over 400 acres of  recreational space, trails, boat launch, kayak rentals and a touch of  the past with its historic brick kilns and the memory of imprisoned  women suffragists. 


Boating on the Potomac

The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries has a site where you can get information on fishing license  reciprocity. This can save you money on buying the least number of  permits possible.

At Trizily.com you'll find a wealth of fishing information—guides, tips, a fishing blog and more.

You can zoom in on any body  of water, see  the fish catches logged, fish species in that area as well as the  fishing forecast for each at Places to Fish & Boat. The website also shows boat ramps, bait shops and marinas. 

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources' website has fishing reports and loads more information.
